B.P.H. Education Society's Ahmednagar College is a Christian minority institution, situated on a 55-acre campus on the Pune – Manmad highway. The College was the first to be established in Ahmednagar district in 1947. It is a multi-faculty institution, consisting of the faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce, affiliated to the University of Pune. The B.P.H.E. Society has come a long way and still continues the march of progress in the field of education. Currently Rev. Prof. Joseph Barnabas is the Secretary of the Society. The Society believes in innovation and providing educational opportunities to people in order to make them responsible citizens. At present the Society has three institutions under its aegis: Ahmednagar College has been awarded 'A' Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council [NAAC], Bangalore, an independent agency that undertakes the assessment process to rank institutes of higher education in India, a scheme initiated by the UGC. The assessment of Ahmednagar College took place in September 2003. The criteria of assessment include curricular variety, student support, teaching, learning and evaluation, research, infrastructure, organization and management and healthy practices. The NAAC committee has commended the College for the quality of education provided, for student support and welfare programmes, for excellence in research and academic activities, for the sound and enthusiastic Management and for the harmonious atmosphere on the campus. Mission The Mission of the College is to provide equal oppurtunity for quality education for students from diverse backgrounds, which help to enrich themselves and make them responsible citizens of India and the World. Accommodation
There are separate hostels for men and women students on the campus. The hostels can accommodate 510 men and 200 women students. Currently, 176 students from outside the Maharashtra State are residing in the hostels. Separate mess facilities are available on the campus. Snacks and light meals at controlled prices are also available. The Health Center on the campus provides the facilities of first aid and a visiting physician for the students and staff.
