Vision for Tezpur University which I hope to implement with the total commitment of the teachers and non-teaching staff of the University. Let us never forget that our students are our raison d\'etre. Our goal is to see that Tezpur University shines in all areas of academic excellence. Administrative efficiency is another very important goal. It is vital that we get our priorities right in order to make Tezpur University one of the best in the Northeast region, and, eventually, in the entire country.
Placement
The unitary nature of the University allows ample resource and opportunity to be made at the disposal of the students. The Student Teacher ratio in this University is one of the lowest in the country, which means closer attention to the student. The average class size is about 25 and hence the classroom environment is entirely cohesive for one-to-one discussion. This also facilitates group assignments and presentations to be more meaningful and frequent.
Students from Tezpur University are quite comfortable with Computers and Internet as they receive unlimited exposure to the latest hardware and software in the IT field. The Central Computer Centre is equipped with Intel based high-end processor stand alones apart from network connection to state-of-the-art servers. Many Departments have their own computer labs and the students are allowed to work anywhere, anytime.
The University conducts rigorous admission tests for aspirants for the various academic programmes at the National level at centres spread across the North Eastern Region. Apart from these, Department of Business Administration takes the December MAT examination for selection of students to its MBA programme, while the Department of Molecular Biology and Bio-Technology selects students through the JNU conducted, and Department of Bio-Technology, Government of India sponsored test for admission into M.Sc. in Biotechnology course.
The serene nature of the Campus and its existence away from the city make the environment more pleasant and conducive for a perfect Gurukul. As a result moral of the students remain high, oblivious to the politics of the student life or elsewhere and thereby preparing themselves to be good employees in the life ahead of them. They do wait eagerly to be picked up by the bests and with the knowledge they gather here with all their sincerity, honesty and integrity; which are imbibed into them through the rigorous and strenuous teaching and evaluation procedures in the University.
