At Fairmont State, it's about finding yourself. This means you will lay a firm foundation for lifelong learning and a career. Some of that will happen in class, at the library and in study groups. But some of it will occur as you assume leadership positions on campus, serve the larger community and try new things.

The great thing about getting involved on campus is—you run the show. We empower students to take charge of what happens here so you learn what works, what doesn't and how you can make things better. That pretty much sums up what life is all about.
Fairmont State has more than 80 student organizations ranging from Student Government, professional and honorary organizations to fraternities, sororities, music groups, religious clubs and arts organizations. About 50 percent of our students participate in intramurals — we offer 24 sports such as flag football, softball, horseshoes and backgammon. See what we've got to offer. And if you don't find what you're looking for? Start your own program. We love it when that happens.
Placement
When you enroll at Fairmont State, it's like putting your foot on the first rung of a ladder—a ladder that will take you places you can hardly imagine now. Each step up the ladder to a two-year degree through the four-year degree and even on to graduate school, will add skills, credentials and experiences you can use professionally, personally and as a member of your community.

Scholarships
Scholarships
Fairmont State invites qualifying students from around the world to apply for one of two partial-tuition scholarships which are offered each year. Each scholarship provides a waiver of half the normal tuition based on a normal course load per semester. The scholarship remains in place for 8 semesters, which is the length of time normally required for graduation.
Selection of scholarship recipients is made by April 15 each year by the International Education Committee, which bases its decision primarily upon academic performance. All scholarship recipients are required by the university to provide proof of their ability to meet cost of living expenses while attending Fairmont State.
