Amrita University was started by the world-renowned humanitarian leader, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Amma. As Chancellor of the University, Amma continues to guide its mission and growth. The University has come to be known today as one of India's leading research and teaching universities. It is accredited with the highest grade of 'A' by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. Thirteen thousand students are enrolled in over a hundred programs, including bachelors, masters, doctoral. Faculty includes doctorates from leading universities world-wide; many are engaged in research projects to benefit humanity.
