Mission & Vision
The Royal Danish Academy of Music is Denmark\'s largest and oldest Academy of Music – a dynamic and lively artistic educational institution which measures itself against the best academies in Europe, and which views it as its key task to continually develop classical music and enhance its topicality, in close interplay with today\'s artistic and cultural world.
In stylistic terms the palette of the Academy is very broad, encompassing early, new and recent music, classical-romantic music and the music of tomorrow. The majority of the Academy\'s courses are oriented towards performance at the highest level – and in many cases also towards top professional teaching work. Besides instrumental and vocal courses, specialised courses are also offered in educational theory, composition, conducting and church music, as well as a special recording director programme. Flexibility in relation to the labour market is now greater than ever, thanks to a new study programme structure and a wealth of practical training agreements and built-in optional subjects.
These are rounded off by a comprehensive and richly varied programme of concerts, distinctive research and developmental projects, and an extensive network of international contact and co-operation, supported by the institution\'s committed teachers and other staff – and, in particular, by the Academy\'s large corps of talented students, who are the heart of it all.
In the summer of 2008, the Academy moved to new premises at Rosenørns Allé, where the fantastic complex of buildings from the thirties done by the Danish architect Vilhelm Lauritzen - in the past year has undergone an extensive renovation and is now transformed from radio house to a modern academy of music. Thus The Academy moves up into the international super league of teaching and rehearsal facilities as well as concert and production possibilities.
