IMI continually spearheads new and essential projects relevant to equip students with the skill sets needed to excel in the industry
In today's ever changing, virtual, digital, internetworked, immediate and global economy our Alumni will be exposed to various management symptoms like stress, time pressure, information overload, cultural misunderstandings, professionalism at all time.
The International Hotel, Tourism and Culinary Management Institutes (IMI) is primarily a residential hotel and tourism school situated in Central Switzerland. Established in 1990, its three founding members all had considerable experience of the hotel industry and of running hotel schools in Ireland, Greece, Indonesia, Kenya, Malta and Switzerland.
Courses in Switzerland have traditionally been biased towards technical proficiency with little emphasis on management. The founders of IMI Mr Heinz Bürki, Mr Rudolf Fischer and Mr Tom Maher wished to bias the courses more towards a study of hospitality management. IMI originally offered three courses, a Certificate in Food and Beverage Management, a Diploma in Hotel Operational Management and Higher Diploma in Hotel and Tourism Management.

IMI recognize that employability is increasingly important to you, our graduates, and the industry alike. Our Career Services Department is thus committed to helping you make the right choices and work to your strengths when you make that all important transition from education into industry.
International placements (‘in-training') have also become increasingly attractive, to add diversity to the experiential element of your education. Under the new Career Services Department, IMI has thus undertaken to further expand these opportunities around the globe.
A final feature of Career Services will also be to further develop and nurture our extensive alumni network, enabling not just students who are on campus to profit from guidance and support, but to extend this to our ambassadors who are already carving a career around the world.
