The University of Algarve is a young state university located in the southeastern part of Portugal. It was established in 1979 and over the years the institution has acquired a sound international reputation.
The University of Algarve offers a range of quality undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the beautiful academic setting. It has over 700 full-time academic staff and approx. 10 000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. Also offers a variety of opportunities for professional development (professional and short course levels).
Placement
Academic activities take place in four university campuses: the Penha campus, the Gambelas campus, the Health campus and the Portimão campus.
All of the campuses are equipped with special computer and multimedia classrooms, auditoriums and study and meeting rooms.
There are eight libraries spread across the university campuses that acquire, handle and systemize all bibliographic resources. The university provides free wireless internet access on campus.
The University has five faculties and four schools: School of Education; School of Management, Hotel and Tourism, School of Technology, Faculty of Natural Resource Engineering, Faculty of Marine and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Human and Social Sciences and Faculty of Sciences and Technology.

Each year hundreds of international students come to the University of Algarve through mobility programs such as Erasmus, Erasmus Mundus, External Cooperation Window and academic cooperation agreements. The University received over 200 students from 54 different nationalities this year alone.
