D. Y. Patil College of Engineering and Technology, Kolhapur is established by Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil in 1983. Placement
A selection grade lecturer with qualifications MSc, D.I.T is the incharge of the Department of Training and Placement. He is having field experience of about 5 years in the state government organization. There is a committee consisting of the Principal, one staff representative from each department which assists Training and Placement Officer.

Correspondence and visits to various organizations for planning and arranging campus interview.
Arrange informative lectures by eminent professionals for the benefit of students and staff members.

To equip the students to face the interviews confidently, the Department of Training & Placement arranges routine mock interview and very often the group discussions. To motivate and enhance the general knowledge of budding engineers they are exposed often to the eminent personalities through their lectures and workshops.
Not only for students but also for staff members in-house training is given by conducting seminars and workshops in recent developments of engineering & technical fields. To name a few training on Staad Pro, Ideas, .Net, Office Automation etc...

The department frequents to many reputed industrial companies of the city and outside and arranges campus interviews which facilitates the students to get proper placement.

Criteria & weightage for admission
Minimum 50 % for PCM subjects for open category & 45 % for SC / ST category and CET score, other rules & regulation as per govt. of Maharashtra.
