Why Computer Engineering?
Submitted by Tanvi on 05/06/2009 - 05:22 PM
Computer engineers continually push the capability and applicability of computers in every industry and every facet of modern life. Computer engineers are concerned with analyzing and solving computer-oriented problems. CPEs understand both the hardware and the software of computers. This enables them to choose the solution that is best, not just the one they know.

Computer engineering is a field which has mass exposure and due to the improving technology the innovation in computer and related studies also gain importance. Computer engineers also focus on computer networking. They must utilize their knowledge and understanding of the design of logic and microprocessor systems, as well as computer architecture and computer interfacing.

The field of computer engineering is broad, but there are many smaller areas that most students focus on. Sometimes a person studying to become a computer engineer will choose to major with an emphasis on computer architecture, or the way information is organized internally. Other possible areas of study are database systems, operating systems, or software engineering. If a student chooses to study any one of these, or a variety of other areas, they will bring a specialized advantage to the field of computer engineering.

Scope of Computer Engineering
Submitted by Tanvi on 24/06/2009 - 03:59 PM Reply
A lot. A lot of scope is there for the computer engineer other than IT industry also. Here are two fields which probably never go out of demand (maybe a little slowdown every now and then, but nothing too serious )"networking and hardware". Nowadays almost all types of businesses maintain a vast network of computer systems to aid in their everyday operations. Many of these are networked either by LAN , WAN or even Intranet or a combination of all of these. These have to be in peak operating condition 24X7 . It is the responsibility of the CE to ensure this.

Most of the times , in companies like these, he will be the only man having any knowledge of the systems. So, he will have to be extremely well-articulated to run his show. And he will be well-paid for doing this.
