Submitted by Jonnah on 09/06/2009 - 10:26 AM
Could u believe that there are about 200 types of engineering..but we will see some main type of it: Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Engineering Management, Engineering Sciences, Geotechnical, Mechanical.

In this, chemical engineering includes the following specialties: Agricultural, biological and biosystems, chemical, environmental, food, forestry, Materials, Plastics and water resource.
Civil engineering includes: Building, Civil and construction.
Electrical engineering includes: Communications, Computer, Electrical, Electromechanical Systems, Electronic Systems, Software.
Engineering Management includes: Industrial, Integrated/Unifed, Production and systems.
Engineering Science includes: Engineering chemistry, engineering math, engineering psychics.
The Geotechnical engineering includes: Gas, Geological, Geomatics, Metallurgical, Mineral, Mining, Oil,Petroleum.
The Mechanical engineering includes: Aerospace, Automotive, Biomedical, Mechanical and Naval.

Aeronautical
Biomedical
Mechanical
Chemical
Civil
Sustainability Design
Electrical and Electronics
Systems
Biomechanical
Photonics
Computer software
Computer hardware
Nuclear
Mineral
Agricultural
Agricultural engineers apply engineering technology and biological science to agriculture, and design agricultural machinery and equipment. Some specialties include:
Power systems and machinery design,Structures and the environment,Food and bioprocess engineering.
Mineral engineers include mining, metallurgical and petroleum engineers, who are focused on extracting minerals from the ground and converting them to pure forms.
Nuclear engineers research and develop the processes, instruments and systems needed to derive benefits from nuclear energy and radiation.
Photonics is the science of generating, controlling, and detecting photons especially in the visible light spectrum. Photonics engineers use this science to understand and make use of the emission, transmission, amplification, detection, modulation, and switching of light. Photonics as a field really began in 1960 with the invention of the laser, and followed in the 1970s with the development of optical fibers as a medium for transmitting information using light beams. These inventions provided the infrastructure for the Internet.

About Petroleum Engineering
Submitted by Jenni on 24/06/2009 - 04:32 PM Reply
Petroleum engineering is an engineering discipline concerned with the subsurface activities related to the production of hydrocarbons, which can be either crude oil or natural gas. These activities are deemed to fall within the upstream sector of the oil and gas industry, which are the activities of finding and producing hydrocarbons.

Petroleum engineering has become a technical profession that involves extracting oil in increasingly difficult situations as the "low hanging fruit" of the world's oil fields are found and depleted. Improvements in computer modeling, materials and the application of statistics, probability analysis, and new technologies like horizontal drilling and enhanced oil recovery, have drastically improved the toolbox of the petroleum engineer in recent decades.
